Volunteers are a part of the multi-disciplinary cancer care team and play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support; enhancing the experience of patients, family and friends during their cancer journey.
Whether you have been affected by cancer, have a healthcare career goal or just want to be involved in your community, we welcome your
application. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Please note, we do not offer volunteer opportunities on weekends or evenings.
There are no educational prerequisites but compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental individuals match our patients’ needs. Applicants must meet the following requirements
- Age 18 years and up
- Available during clinic hours (Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm)
- Willing to commit to one 3-4 hour shift a week for a minimum of 6 months
All applicants must complete the
application, interview and reference checks to be considered. Successful applicants must complete a criminal record check and new Volunteer Orientation that includes some online training courses.
If you are a BC Cancer patient or have supported a loved one through cancer treatment recently, we recommend waiting one year following the end of treatment to submit an
application.
