Postcard Campaign

Oral cancer is a growing problem. In British Columbia, we have launched a campaign to address this disease.

Dentists and registered dental hygienists are partnering with the BC Oral Cancer Prevention Program to promote awareness of oral cancer. As part of this awareness campaign, we are asking oral health practitioners to participate by endorsing a set of principles.

Postcards printed with these principles were mailed to all dentists and registered dental hygienists across the province in early 2011. Each oral health practitioner in BC was asked to promptly sign and return the postcard to the BC Oral Cancer Prevention Program. We will be compiling a long list of supporters of the campaign principles to raise awareness of oral cancer.

We encourage each dentist or registered dental hygienist to join us and other oral health practitioners in B.C. to help raise awareness of this disease. Please return the self-addressed postcard that has been mailed to practitioners, indicating your endorsement of the following principles:

  1. Oral health is a critical part of general health
  2. The early detection of oral cancer saves lives
  3. Oral cancer screening is best practice

We hope to publish a long list of a great many supporters of these principles. The list of names may be published in professional publications (such as Access, Bridge, Sentinel) and may be used in display materials at other professional venues. We will not use personal information for any other purpose.
