Ruby Gidda emulates excellence in oncology nursing, leadership and patient advocacy.
Ruby holds unique roles within PHSA and BC Cancer, providing executive leadership to both regional operations at BC Cancer - Abbotsford and Provincial Professional Practice for nursing and allied health clinicians. At the forefront of all Ruby does, is an authentic and transparent commitment to improving the patient experience for those receiving oncology care across British Columbia.
She actively cultivates partnerships to bridge care gaps and has led numerous quality improvement initiatives including community of practice structures for nursing and allied health clinicians across BC Cancer.
From a research lens, Ruby is currently involved in a study being led by BC Cancer – Abbotsford, examining innovative and creative ways to detect breast cancer through light technology. The research aims to find a non-invasive, easy-to-use, point-of-care bedside tool, which can support clinical decision-making and prognostication.
“Ruby does not shy away from system transformation – especially when the end result will support our patients and staff. She pushes to find solutions that will not only address needs now, but also needs in the foreseeable future,” says Rupinder Atwal, RT(T), MSc, director, Regional Clinical Operations, BC Cancer – Abbotsford.
