The BC Cancer Excellence Awards provide an opportunity to shine a light on our inspiring people and teams who work every day to ensure that British Columbians receive world-class, patient-centred cancer screening, treatment and support, and benefit from new discoveries that are helping change the face of cancer.
Nicole Peterson is a medical secretary in the Radiation Oncology Department at BC Cancer – Vancouver. She is the winner of this year's BC Cancer Excellence Award in the category of Workplace Inspiration.
The Workplace Inspiration Award recognizes a person with an unyielding
ability to inspire those around them. This is a person colleagues look to for
encouragement and motivation.
Nicole stands out for her 'can do' attitude. She is known for always going the extra mile to ensure that patients and families get the care and resources that they need. She is a shining example of what patient and family-centred care really mean.
Nicole Peterson is the recipient of this year's BC Cancer Excellence Award in the category of Workplace Inspiration.
Nicole played a key role as a peer mentor with BC Cancer – Vancouver's transition to CST Cerner this past summer. She often came in early and stayed late to ensure that her colleagues were well supported with the new system. Her colleagues are always grateful for Nicole's supportive, collaborative and generous spirit.
One of her colleagues shared, "In the many years that I worked with Nicole, she demonstrates intelligence, tactfulness, diplomacy, leadership through every interaction or approach to people. Of greater importance would be her dedication, care, humour, honesty, integrity and hard work to her job. She inspires and motivates others to focus on providing patient-centred care."
Congratulations Nicole on receiving this year's Workplace Inspiration Award!
