The BC Cancer Excellence Awards provide an opportunity to shine a light on the inspiring people and teams who help ensure that British Columbians receive world-class, patient-centered cancer screening, treatment and support, and benefit from new discoveries that are helping change the face of cancer.
Jane Pattillo is a nurse care coordinator at BC Cancer – Vancouver. She is the winner of this year's BC Cancer Excellence Award in the category of Patient Care Champion, nominated by staff.
A Patient Care Champion is a staff member or physician who helps improve patients' experience, quality of life, quality of care and/or knowledge of the cancer system – either directly or indirectly. They show compassion, ingenuity and leadership, and act as a role model for others.
Jane is celebrated for her exceptional leadership and patient advocacy. From the moment she joined the Gynecologic Oncology team Jane has made a significant impact, transforming patient care and ensuring patients feel supported throughout their cancer journey.
Jane is often the first point of contact for patients, offering reassurance and addressing concerns. Her ability to keep patients informed and connected to the care team has earned her widespread respect from colleagues and patients alike. Her proactive approach ensures seamless care, whether she's coordinating appointments, advocating for timely treatments, or providing emotional support.
