Parking

Patients with cancer park for free
Paid parking is back at all hospital sites starting March 4, 2022. You can still park for free for appointments and tests related to your cancer treatment after this date.

To park for free at BC Cancer - Vancouver, please register your licence plate when you check in for your appointment. Please do not pay for parking.

Where to park
The entrance to the BC Cancer parkade is off Ash Street at the corner of West 10th Avenue. You can enter BC Cancer – Vancouver from parkade levels 1, 2 or 3. There is a parkade elevator.

There is an area for patient drop-off and pick-up at the main entrance on 10th Avenue. There are also two parking stalls.

Paid parking
If you are not onsite for cancer treatment, you will have to pay for parking. Parking is charged at hourly, daily or monthly rates.

There are other paid parking lots in the area. Street parking is also available.

Health and safety

When people seek care at our hospitals, they want to receive that care in an environment that prioritizes their health needs and safety. It is the responsibility of the health system to provide a safe environment and care for all patients and for health care workers.

At BC Cancer, we honour the value and dignity of all individuals. We aim to treat others with kindness and respect.

While substance use (vaping, alcohol, and unregulated/illegal substances) is not permitted anywhere on our sites, we care for and support people who use substances who are in our care. Please ask your health care worker or provider how we may support your wellness.

Our goal is to work together to provide people with the care they need, in an environment that is safe for everyone.  

We are currently reviewing and updating our policies to ensure staff safety and to ensure we continue to provide care and support in a trauma-informed, anti-racist environment, free from discrimination and stigmatization.

Fever and/or respiratory symptoms

The health and safety of our patients and employees is extremely important to us. Please do not visit if you have a fever and respiratory symptoms, or have been exposed to an infectious disease within the last two weeks. If you are a patient, please call your healthcare provider from home.

Smoke and scent-free environment

Smoking is not permitted in the buildings or on the grounds. This means that staff, patients, and visitors are not permitted to smoke on site. If you have questions about this policy, please email smokefree@phsa.ca.
 
In consideration of our patients and staff who have scent-related allergies, please do not wear perfume, scented hairspray, cologne, deodorant, aftershave or other scented products while visiting. Thank you for your co-operation.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, wheelchairs are available in the BC Cancer – Vancouver lobby and inside the entrances from the parkade into the building.

 

No, there is no bank machine in BC Cancer – Vancouver. You can find ATMs for TD, BMO, RBC and HSBC on Broadway between Laurel and Cambie. There is a Scotiabank ATM located nearby at City Square Shopping Centre. All are within a few blocks of BC Cancer – Vancouver.

The cafeteria is open to patients and their families from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday. It is on the ground floor, on your left once you pass the elevators in the main lobby. There is also a wide array of eateries a block away on West Broadway, and at City Square Shopping Centre there is a ground-floor food court.


There is also a comfort cart that circulates BC Cancer – Vancouver and is operated by our volunteers. The comfort cart serves complimentary refreshments such as tea, coffee and snacks.
