Cervix screening saves lives. You can now choose how you’d like to screen for cervical cancer:

  • Cervix self-screening at home or at a health care provider’s office
  • Pap test with a health care provider
Anyone with a cervix, including women and TTGD (Two-Spirit, transgender and gender diverse) people, between the ages of 25 and 69, should be screened for cervical cancer every three to five years. The test is free and only takes a few minutes of your time.

How to get a cervix self-screening kit

Cervix self-screening is a new way to screen for cervical cancer that can be done wherever you feel comfortable, like your home or at a health care provider’s office. It’s an alternative to the Pap for routine screening.

To order a free cervix self-screening kit, fill out an online kit request form or call 1-877-702-6566.

How to get a Pap test

If you prefer to continue using a Pap test for your cervical screening, contact your health care provider or a medical clinic.

You can find a health care provider by:

  • Using our clinic locator to find a clinic that accepts patients for Pap tests. We recommend that you call the clinic of your choice to check that Pap clinic information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Calling HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 and speaking with a Health Service Navigator. They will review options with you, including how to find a family doctor accepting new patients, accessing walk-in clinics, or finding a nurse practitioner in your community.
  • Searching for a primary care provider using the Pathways Medical Care Directory.
