If You Have Symptoms

Getting regular mammograms is the best way to stay on top of your breast health.

It’s important to be breast aware. If you notice any of the following symptoms, please see your health care provider immediately:

  • New mass, lump, thickening or any change in the breast
  • Existing lump that gets bigger
  • Change in the size of an entire breast
  • New nipple inversion
  • Nipple discharge
  • Dimpling or puckering of the skin of the breast
  • Red, swollen or hot breast
  • New lump in the armpit
If your health care provider decides that you need breast imaging, you will be booked for an appointment at a diagnostic imaging centre. This process is different from breast screening through the BC Cancer Breast Screening Program, which is for those who have no breast symptoms.
