Many children survive childhood cancers and grow to be adults. We are learning from these adult childhood cancer survivors. We now know that children treated for cancer face an 80% chance of health risks (late effects) from their treatment later in life. We want to share information with adult childhood cancer survivors and provide advice, support and screening for late effects.
The LEAF Clinic is for anyone who is a resident of BC. Appointments are offered in person in Vancouver, by video conference and by telephone.
There is no cost to access the LEAF clinic. Patients of the LEAF clinic must be covered by BC's Medical Services Program.
Before you first appointment our team will review your treatment history. Please bring any information about any health problems and treatments you have had since your cancer experience.
The type of tests you need depend on your past cancer diagnosis and treatment. Our team will review your medical history and develop a customized plan for each survivor.
You can bring a family member, care giver, or other supporters to your appointment.
If you are a parent or guardian of a childhood cancer survivor your child has to be with you to discuss their care. We will only discuss care if the survivor is present and would like you to attend.
To follow-up on results patients can meet with a nurse practitioner or physician in person, by video-conference or by telephone.
Please call us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your appointment.
