Volunteers are a part of the multi-disciplinary cancer care team and play an important role in providing high-quality, patient and family centred, care and support to people visiting the cancer center. They enhance the experience of patients, family, and friends during the cancer journey.
Whether you have been affected by cancer, have a healthcare career goal, or just want to be involved in your community, we welcome your application.

There are no educational prerequisites however compassionate, empathetic, non-judgemental people match the needs of our patients. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be 18+ years of age.
- Volunteers need to commit to one 4-hour shift a week for a permanent shift, or a minimum of two 4-hour shifts per month as a "floater" and be able to volunteer for a minimum of 6 months.
- All shifts take place on a weekday, from Monday to Friday, in the hours of 8:30am - 4:30pm, so must have availability during that time.
- If you are a current or former patient, we respectfully request that you to be one year post active treatment before you consider applying to volunteer. If you have lost a family member, we also ask you to wait one year before you consider applying to volunteer.
Volunteers are pre-screened from their application, and if there is a role that matches the skills, interests, and availability of the applicant, they are interviewed to further determine their suitability as a volunteer.
For applicants that progress, the next step involves reference checks and completing a criminal record check. Successful applicants must complete a New Volunteer Orientation as well as some online training courses.
