Background & Purpose

BC Cancer, in partnership with Fraser Health Authority, is building a new regional cancer centre as part of Phase 2 of the Burnaby Hospital redevelopment. This centre will bring life-saving cancer care closer to people in Burnaby and nearby communities. The project is currently in the design phase, and the project teams wants to hear from patients and families to help shape the centre.

They are looking for 2-3 partners per component partners to provide their feedback on:

  • Patient flow: How people move through the centre during their care.
  • Wayfinding and design: Making sure the space is easy to navigate and welcoming.
  • Cancer Care Space Layouts: Reviewing plans for areas where care is provided.
As a patient or family partner, you can take part in different ways, such as:
  • Joining working group meetings
    • Meetings may include a variety of participants, such as designers, architects, clinicians, and other subject matter experts.
  • Attending design workshops.
  • Sharing your thoughts in one-on-one interviews.
  • Helping map out care workflows.
    • Workflows help us understand and organize how things happen in a clinical setting, from patient check-ins to medical procedures. They show each step in a process, making it easier to spot needs like technology, space, or equipment.
